Adult Psychiatrist – Kern County, CA 93301 (#R10042)

Employment Type: Full-Time or Part-Time

Hourly Rate: $210/hr

Join a high-impact behavioral health team in Kern County, CA , serving Medi-Cal recipients and uninsured adults through advanced psychiatric care. This position includes both clinical and forensic responsibilities in a dynamic public health setting.

Schedule Options:

•   Full-Time (FTE): 8-hour day
•   Part-Time (PTE): 6-hour day (e.g., 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Key Responsibilities:

• Prescribe and manage clozapine therapy for treatment-resistant schizophrenia.
• Monitor ANC levels and titration protocols.
• Lead biweekly interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Conduct capacity assessments under W&I Code 5150/5250.
• Utilize long-acting injectables (e.g., aripiprazole, paliperidone palmitate).
• Provide expert input for conservatorship hearings.

Qualifications:

•   Board Certified/Eligible in General Psychiatry (ABPN).
•   Active California Medical License in good standing.
• DEA Certification (required for antipsychotic and LAI prescribing).
• Experience with severe mental illness, medication non-adherence, and forensic psychiatry preferred.
