Job Description

We are currently seeking a Bookkeeper who has a passion for providing the highest quality care in an institutional, secure setting. This role involves performing calculations, verifying and posting financial data, maintaining accounting records, ensuring proper transaction coding, and supporting the facilitys financial operations.

Responsibilities


  • Utilize and maintain working knowledge of accounting and internal control procedures in line with GAAP and company policies.
  • Assist with or maintain current checking account balances for petty and commissary accounts; prepare, deposit, and verify bank deposits and check requests.
  • Prepare accounts payable packages, accruals, petty cash reimbursements, and bank reconciliations ensuring accuracy and adherence to policy.
  • Process inmate/resident account transactionsincluding deposits, withdrawals, charges, fees, and fund transfersaccording to policy; assist with daily inmate fund balancing.
  • Assign appropriate account codes to purchase orders, accounts payable, check requests, vouchers, and other expenditures before settlement.


Qualifications
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Three years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, or other spreadsheet/accounting software.
  • Experience with Enterprise software such as Oracle or JD Edwards and inventory control preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Minimum age requirement: At least 21 years of age.
