The City of Norfolk Department of Parks and Recreation is hiring for a Maintenance Mechanic II to perform repairs and maintenance on equipment used by the Bureau of Parks and Urban Forestry. This is a mid-level position responsible for daily repair and preventive maintenance, tire repair and operation of a service truck as needed. Essential functions include but are not limited to:
Work requires knowledge necessary to understand basic operational and technical processes. Level of knowledge equivalent to four years of high school or equivalency. Two years' experience as a maintenance mechanic. Valid Virginia Driver's license required. Preferred experience includes: Familiarity with Zero turn mowers, pull behind mowers, and small mowers and other equipment used in landscaping operations. Knowledge of bench and hand held grinders, metric and standard sockets and wrenches that are used for repairing equipment. Repair and maintenance skills highly preferred. Virginia CDL, preferred.
