Job Title: Street Sweeper Operator (Overnight Shift)
Department of Public Works – Highway and Sanitation Division
Hours: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Includes One Weekend Day)
Hourly Rate: $28.86 + $15 night differential per shift

The Town of Brookline Department of Public Works is seeking a dependable and skilled Street Sweeper Operator to join our Highway and Sanitation Division on the overnight shift. This role is ideal for candidates looking for alternative work hours and meaningful position that directly contributes to the safety and cleanliness of our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate street sweepers to clean town streets and roadways during overnight hours
  • Perform routine maintenance and safety inspections of the street sweeper and related equipment
  • Assist with other roadway and sanitation-related tasks as needed
  • Support emergency operations, including snow and ice response, as required
  • Maintain accurate logs of work performed and equipment usage

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1–2 years of experience operating heavy trucks and equipment (experience with sweepers preferred)
  • Experience with snow and ice operations is a plus
  • Valid Massachusetts CDL, Class B required
  • Valid MA Hoisting Engineer’s License required
  • Strong attention to safety and the ability to work independently overnight

The Overnight Street Sweeper offers a competitive hourly rate of $28.86/hour and a night differential of $15 per shift, as well as generous benefits including health insurance, pension plan, generous paid time off, and more.
